Shrine’s History
In the middle of the green fields of the river Godavari, Konaseema is one of the places of sanctity and sacred feeling that is described in the Vaastu Sastra. In the area of the Konaseema is Ainavilli where “Shri Siddi Vinayaka temple” is situated. Before performing the yagna, Daksha Prajapathi was supposed to perform the poojas to Lord Vinayaka for its successful completion which is written in the “Kshetra Purna”. Based on another story, Vyasa Maharishi, during his journey to the south, had installed the idol of the son of the Parvathi at this place, who named as the “Shri Siddhi Vinayaka”. Lord Vinayaka is reputed to fulfil the wishes of his devotees.
The temple of Vinayaka stands with idol facing south. With two gopurams and gates, one can approach Vinayaka from the south and Shri Visveswara Swamy from the east. In the temple, the idols of the Shri Devi, Bhudevi with Shri Kesava Swamy are seen. By the side is seen Shri Annapurna Devi. Shri Kalabhairava Swamy and Kshetrapalaka are situated by the side. Special poojas are performed every month on Chaviti, Dasami, Ekadasi days. During Vinayaka Chavithi Navarathri, Karthika Masam, Prabha festival on Sankranthi and Shivarathri, special archanas are performed. Devotees take a vow to visit the temple to get their wishes fulfilled. It is the belief and practice of people in this area to make a promise in the name of this God. It is the belief of our people that this very ancient temple was installed by early “devas”. The temple was reconstructed by the Peddapuram rulers. Presently, the temple is under the control of the Endowment Department.
