Sampath Vinayagar is a Hindu temple located in the city of Visakhapatnam, on the east coast of India. The famed Sri Sampath Vinayagar Temple in the busy Asilmetta area is among the most popular temples of Vizag.
Shrine’s History
Sri Sampath Vinayaka Temple was constructed in the year 1962 by Late S.G. Sambandan, Late T.S. Selvaganesan and Sri T.S. Rajeswaran with a small amount of money. Later the Paramacharya of Kanchi His Holiness Sri Chandrasekharaendra Saraswathi reconsecrated the shrine by placing Ganapathi Yantram? with his own hands in the year 1971. During the course of time, this temple expanded to bigger with the funds received by devotees and donors. This temple is one of the most popular Vinayaka Temples in Visakhapatnam. Admiral Krishnan, in charge of Eastern Naval Command of Indian Navy, visited this place and broke 1001 coconuts for saving Vizag from the Pakistani Submarine, Ghazis attack.
