Sri Maddi Anjaneya Swamy Temple is located at Guruvaigudem in West Godavari district. Lord Hanuma is the main deity in the form of Sri Maddi Anjaneya Swamy here.
Shrine’s History
This region was ruled by Reddyraju Kings. Shrine of Lord Anjaneya was found on November 1st, 1166 A.D. The temple architecture was designed by famous architect Late Ganapathi Sthapati.
Legends Associated with This Shrine
According to the legend, In Tretayuga Madhya was one of the asuras in Lanka. But he was an ardent devotee of Lord Anjaneya. As he was in the enemys kingdom, he could not express his devotion towards Lord Hanuma. But Madhya wanted to be the part of Lords Grace at least in his next birth so he surrendered his life to Vanaras in the war against King Ravana. Thus to bless Madhya Lord Anjaneya manifested Himself in the Maddi Tree.
