Sri Bhramaramba Malleswara Swamy varu is at Pedakakani Village at a distance of about 8 Kms. from Guntur town is an ancient and having pouranic importance.It is said that the Goddess Bhramaramba Devi is one of the Astadasa Sakthi and the presiding Deity. Sri Malleswara Swamy is one of the Jyothirlingam of Srisaila Kshetram. Hence the worship of this deity is equal to the worship of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy of Srisaila Kshetram.
Shrine’s History
As per the history of the temple, this is the oldest shrine of Lord Shiva which was built around 11th century. The temple was renovated during the 19th century. It has spacious courtyards with the beautiful artistic finish. Goddess Bhramarambha Devi is adjacent to the main Garbhagudi on the left side. On the right side of the main Garbhagudi, there is a temple of Bhadrakali and Her consort Veerabhadra Swamy giving the darshan in the first instance. The Naga devathas installed in the rear portion are worshipped ardently.
Legends Associated with This Shrine
A History in Puranas reveal that Bharadwaja rishi stayed here during his journey towards the south of India from Kasi. Many illustrious Maharshis worshipped the Lord for having killed formidable demons inhabiting this region in the dim past. The grateful people requested the Lord to dwell there itself for their protection. Assuring them round the clock vigilance He has been abiding in the form of Linga since then.
