Ramalingeswara Temple Satyavolu is dedicated to Lord Siva. There are two Siva shrines, Rama Lingeswara and Bhimeswara within the temple complex. Sivaratri will be celebrated in a grand, thousands of devotees used to visit this temple.
Shrine’s History
This temple was built by Badami Chalukyas of Chola dynasty during 6th – 7th Century A.D. Rich carvings on the temple walls shows this fine skills of Chola Kings. There is a footprint at the entrance of the temple, devotees used to worship this footprint treating it as the Lord’s impression. This temple was partly damaged during the Muslim ruler’s invasion. Entrance Mantap is of star shape which Cholas used to follow in their constructions. It is said that Sage Satya Rishi performed penance here for the Lord so the place called by Satyavolu. Later the temple was raised by Chola Kings.
