A marvellous power of the Universe – Harsiddhi or Ujjain shakti peetha? of the great supremacy is one of the historic places in India, where the divine power is worshipped as a Devi Shakti -Mangalchandika? by Hindu devotees. According to the Hindu mythology, it is whispered that Devi Satis Elbow? fell here. The main idols of this legendary divine place are Devi as Mangalchandika? and Lord Shiva as Kapilambar? (one who carry the brown clothes). The holy place is dedicated to Goddess Durga and Lord Shiva.
Legends Associated with This Shrine
Sati was the daughter of King Daksha and Queen. She committed self-immolation at the sacrificial fire of a yajna performed by her father Daksha as she felt seriously distraught by her fathers insult to her husband and also to her by not inviting both of them for the yajna. Shiva was so grieved after hearing of the death of his wife that carrying Satis dead body over his shoulders he danced around the universe a Tandav Nritya . In order to bring Shiva to a state of normalcy, it was then Vishnu who decided to use his Sudarshan Chakra . He dismembered Satis body into several pieces and wherever her body fell on the earth, the place was consecrated as a divine shrine on Shakthi Peeth with deities of Sati(Parvati) and Shiva. These locations have become famous pilgrimage places as Shakthi Pithas and are found all over the subcontinent including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, besides India. Sati is also known as Devi or Shakti, and with blessings of Vishnu she was reborn as the daughter of Him vat or the Himalayas and hence named as Parvati . She was born on the 14th day of the bright half of the month of Mrigashirsha, which marks the Shivarathri (Shivas night) festival. Traditionally it is observed that Bengalis are culturally inclined to Shakti Sadhana. They built a Kali Bari where they are in a position to do it, irrespective of the place. This is true for all Bengalis, who are the believer of faiths originated in the Indian subcontinent.The Kali Puja is basically a Shakti Sadhana, which is also known as Dakhshinachari Tantra Sadhana? and also known as Shakti Sadhana. Ancient Bangladesh means the area of the Valley formed by River Ganga and River Brahmaputra and the little part of present MP, as specified in ancient Indian literature.
Architectural Relevance of This Shrine
A Sri Yantra is carved in the temple and is worshipped too. The entrance of the temple leading to the Sanctum Sanctorum has images of fifty Matrices painted on the roof of the hall. There is also a pillar with the year 1447 engraved on it. The temple campus has two huge Deepak sambas (height of 15 ft) at the entrance. These sambas are decorated with lights during Namarari. Prayageshwar Shiva linga is near Harasiddhi shakti peetha. There is no Kapilambara Shiva linga in Ujjain. At the entrance of the stairs leading to the temple is the idol of a lion with the goddess riding on it. On the right side of the door, there are two big Nagada which is used during morning and evening Aarti. There is also the temple of Adi Shakti Mahamaya in the temple complex. Ujaani Shaktipith It is said that the Right Wrist of Devi Sati fell here. There are two idols here, one is of Devi Sati and called as Mangalchandi. The other idol in this temple is Lord Shiva Known as the Kapilambar. Bhairav is worshipped as Kapilambar and Shakti as Mangal Chandika. Some people say that Harsiddhi Mangala Chandi temple near Mahakaleshwar temple Ujjain where right elbow of Sati is fell. But it is not mentioned in Hindu scriptures.
