Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib is a Sikh gurdwara or place of worship in the city of Fatehgarh Sahib in the Indian state of Punjab. The gurdwara marks the 1710 conquest of the city by the Sikhs under the leadership of Banda Bahadur. Sikhs captured the area and razed the fort built by Ferozshah Tughlaq to the ground.
Shrine’s History
The Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib is dedicated to the great martyrdom of younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh who were bricked alive in 1704 by Wazir Khan, the then Fauzdar of Sirhind.
After vacating Qila Shri Anandgarh Sahib upon war with Aurangzeb, SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI when crossing the swelled Sirsa River, MATA GUJRI and two younger Sahibzaadas got separated and they were accompanied by GURU SAHIB’S cook Gangu a trusted servant who betrayed the family and handed over the Mata Gujri Ji and two Younger Sahibzadas to the Wazir Khan, where they were subjected to torture to embrace Islam. When they refused to do so Mata Gujri Ji and her grandsons were confined at Wazir Khan’s Thanda Burj (Cold Tower) and later were bricked alive in a wall. When Mata Gujri ji came to know about this she also collapsed on this place. The historical wall where the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh were bricked has been preserved in this Gurudwara. The sanctuary containing the historic wall in known as Gurudwara Bhora Sahib. Gurudwara Burj Mata Gujri, Gurudwara Shahid Ganj and many other historical Gurudwaras are also located near Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib.
Shrine’s Events
The annual Sahihid Jor Mel is organized in the month of December( 11-12-13 Poh) to commemorate the great martyrdom of Younger Sahibzada’s and Mata Gurji in which thousands of pilgrims from all occupations pay their respect to the great martyrs.

By Road
By road Fatehgarh Sahib is 250 Kms from National Capital Delhi. The National Highway No.1 (Sher Shah Suri Marg) passes through it at Sirhind and Mandi Gobindgarh situated in the district. All buses traversing the Delhi-Amritsar section halt here. For those wishing to visit Fatehgarh Sahib after landing at the Delhi Airport, the Indo-Canadian Bus service runs regular Delux bus services from the Airport to Amritsar and these buses halt at Sirhind and Mandi Gobindgarh
By Rail
The District has Sirhind Junction Railway Station on the Delhi-Amritsar section. This junction links the country with the Ropar and Nangal Dam. On the Sirhind-Nangal railway line, there is a railway station at Fatehgarh Sahib
