Kiriteswari Temple situated in kiritkona village. This is one of the sati peeth among the 51. PeethDevi name is Devi Vimala & bhairab is Samvarta. The construction of the temple is more than 1000 years old and this place was considered to be the sleeping place of Mahamaya.
Shrine’s History
A marvelous power of the Universe Goddess Kiriteswari temple? is one of the historic places in India, where Red colored stone is worshipped as a Devi Shakti Vimla? by devotees. According to the Hindu legends, it is whispered that the Crown? or Kirit? of Satis body fell here. The main idols of this legendary divine place are Devi as Vimla? and Lord Shiva as Sangbarta? worshipped here.

In the 18th century also, many sadhaks from different parts of the country came here and did their sadhanas.and attained salvation. This was the meditation centre of the great sage Raja Ramakrishna and his panchmundi-asana is still here. It is said that a Shiva linga got cracked on its own, the day when Rajballav was drowned by Mirjafar to death. It is also said that Mirjafar in his death bed had requested for the holy charanamrito of Maa Kiriteswari. He was suffering from leprosy. And he breathed out his last breath after having the holy sip of water.
