Kamalasagar Kali Temple Agartala

Kamalasagar Kali Temple was built on a hill-top by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in the late 15th century. It is situated just beside the Bangladesh border.

Shrine’s History

Dedicated to Goddess Kali the temple has the image of Mahishasurmardini which resemblance with Dasabhuja Durga. In spite of its resemblance with Goddess Durga the deity is worshipped as Kali following the Shakti tradition. Due to the presence of a Shivalinga at the feet of the deity, the Kamalasagar Kali Temple is known as ‘Kalibari’. Kamalasagar. This was commissioned by Maharaja Manikya Bahadur in the 15th century which was finally completed in the 17th century by the local rulers.

By RailThe nearest railhead is at Kumarghat. From here you can easily reach the temple by road.By AirThe nearest airport is situated at Agartala, the state capital. Located almost 27 km from the temple, one can easily reach the temple from here by bus or taxi.
