So, there were these sages around Ganges, and one of them, Sounagar, was really into doing holy sacrifices, especially sathrayaagam. Subsequently, he contentedly narrated the myth that even AadhiSeshan, with his thousand tongues, could not reveal.

Architectural Relevance of This Shrine
Similar to the iconic Ganges River that flows through Kashi, the Cauvery River also runs from South to North and merges with Uttaravahini, popularly known as Vadacauvery. The Vadacauvery is a sacred site where taking a purifying bath is considered auspicious. Moving towards the north from here, one can witness the magnificent Agneeshwarar temple, which is located to the south.
